Mark Bonnington
Senior Minister
Mark has been Senior Minister at Kings since 2001. He leads the Oversight and Staff teams and focuses on preaching and teaching. His passion is to see the church seriously engaged in hearing and living out Scripture and being a community alive in the Spirit’s power for committed discipleship and mission. He came to Durham in 1995 to teach New Testament. He still teaches part time in the MA programme at Cranmer Hall where he worked for 12 years, as well as having taught at Leeds and Durham Universities and in Nottingham. Before this he did Maths and taught Maths to A-level before studying theology and writing a PhD on Galatians. He chairs North East Churches Acting Together and is one of half a dozen non-Anglican Canons of Durham Cathedral. He is married to Ruth, a GP, and has three children, all married. He enjoys house renovation projects and playing Lego with the grandchildren.
