Changes To Sunday Venue Access

Until the end of September 2026, our Sunday morning worship venue at Durham Students’ Union (DSU) has building works on the top three floors. This brings changes to how you can find us and how we run our children’s ministries.

Finding Us

Number 1️⃣is Dunelm House, where we meet.

  1. A KCD banner will be showing over the railings outside the building.
  2. Teams wearing high-vis jackets will be waiting to welcome and direct you.
  3. Either walk into the DSU car park, under the arch and continue through the car park, leftwards to the steps into the fire exits of the (‘Margot Fonteyn’) Ballroom (the shorter arrow).
  4. Or a no-steps access route (the longer arrow) is to the right of the trees shown and sends you towards the river and around to the left. It will take you directly to the right fire exit door of the room.
  5. If you must have disabled parking, please contact us ahead and we’ll try to make a space for you in the DSU car park. For everyone else, parking is as normal.

Number 2️⃣ marks the Appleby Rooms where the primary school age kids groups will be.

Children’s Ministries

  • Look at the weather forecast for Sunday morning and dress the family appropriately.
  • Those with children in the Supernovas/Sparklers/Torches (a single group of ‘Supersporches’ for August) should pre-register them as you arrive at church. Each child will be given a coloured wristband which they must wear, so we can spot the unregistered children easily when they leave for their activities.
  • On the way out to their groups at ~11.10am the remaining ‘Supersporches’ will be registered and they will all be taken along to the Appleby Rooms in a ‘walking bus’, returning to the ballroom for ~12.10pm.
  • Fireflies and Creche together will use the Vane Tempest Room, one floor up from the Ballroom, and Fireflies will be registered there, not beforehand.

Toilets

Our only toilet access is also up the stairs from the ballroom.

DSU Fire Exit

  • Adults in the ballroom have 2 Fire Exits that take you to the carpark where you entered.
  • Children’s level
    • one fire exit leads outside directly from their room in Vane Tempest, 
    • the second is down the steps near the toilets all the way down to the riverside.
  • If the ballroom carpark doors are inaccessible, we will leave up the main stairs or through the room behind the tech desk, and then use the exits from the children’s level as above.
