What to Expect | Morning Worship

We’re so glad you’ve come to church today! If you’re new this page will explain briefly what to expect at church! Whether this is the first church you’ve been to or you’ve been going to church all your life this will hopefully answer some of your questions.

Morning Worship

We start our Morning Worship with a time of worship led by our band. Please sing along and join in as you feel able. There will be opportunity for people within the congregation to contribute by speaking out prayers of thanksgiving or scripture.

After this there will be prayers and something highlighting a church activity or event. Once a month we take communion at this time, and several times a year we will baptise people.

Then we will have our Bible readings and our sermon which will be following a series. Our sermons are usually around 30 minutes. If you want a Bible and don’t own one, please feel free to take one from our Welcome Point at the bottom of the stairs.

To finish we conclude with a closing time of worship where we respond to what God has been saying to us. Often members of the congregation bring prophetic contributions, and people will go for prayer ministry.

Morning Worship is also live-streamed onto our YouTube channel.

Children & Young People

If you’ve come with children and young people we have lots of things going on for them.

Our Kids@Kings groups go out after our notices to their groups. This is usually sometime between 11.05 and 11.15. They then stay out to the end of the service. If this is your first time with us or you are visiting please take your child to your group to fill in a child visitor form.

All children and young people up to Year 9 (age 14) go to groups. Many of our youth participate in the service by serving.

Roughly once a month families can leave earlier in the opening worship for a brief act of Family Worship followed by Kids@Kings groups.

If you have babies do not worry if they are noisy! If you want to take them upstairs before creche starts feel free to do so. There are baby changing facilities up the first flight of stairs from where you are.

Communion

Usually on the first Sunday of each month we take communion together in Morning Worship. We invite all who know and love the Lord Jesus to participate by coming up to a serving area in the room when invited to take some bread and drink from the cup.

There will be 4 corners of the room where free-from bread and wine (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be served. Take a piece of bread and have a sip of wine.

Afterwards

After our time of worship has finished around 12.00pm, you can go and collect your child if they are Year 3 and under. The rest will be brought down to the Ballroom.

We have Prayer Ministry available for those who want to pray into anything with a member of the prayer team.

We have light refreshments (including free-from) available as we spend time in fellowship with one another. This is a great time to get to know others in the church, go to our Welcome Point, at the bottom of the stairs, or chat to one of our leaders and staff, who will all be wearing a lanyard.

What next?

We have Evening Worship in university term time also here in the DSU Ballroom.
